During 1978-1988 his creative energy mainly was focused on interpretation of mythical themes in his unique language of drawing. Many pieces from that period are now possessions of private collectors in Armenia, Estonia, and france. Later, he was inspired by impressionists of the 19th century. That inspiration was more about principles of impressionism, rather than the techniques. The impressionism served him as a method, and he created a new technical approach to the subject. His brush strokes are bright and broad, creating more expressive textures of the color, shade and finally new color soluctions of everyday scenes.

After moving to the United States in 1992, he continued his research in the new color concept of his still lifes and landscapes. In 1994 Norik's art was introduced to Mark Alan Galleries in Laguna Beach and Newport Beach from 1994-1996. He enriched his career by doing illustrations for eight Armenian textbooks. Recently he taught at LA City College and LA Valley College. Norik has also instructed animal drawing clases at the LA art Academy (Associates In Art), working with Mark Westermoe, Glenn Vilppu. He participated in many group shows in Fresno, Whittier, LA, and San Francisco. From September of 2000 to March of 2001 his work was exhibited in the Waterfront Gallery in Arrowhead. Recently he has focused more on single or multi figural compositions by creating unique expressions of music in paintings. He established ' Norik's Art Gallery and Studio in Glendale in the year 2000.
