Narek Dilanchyan

Narek was born in Yerevan, Armenia in 1987. Following the footsteps of his father, he started drawing ever since he could lift a pencil, making great use of the white walls around him in his house. At the age of two, he ran out of walls. He began advancing his media and drew his first sketch on a piece of napkin, depicting himself in a carriage from a top view perspective

Nearing the age of 8, he was the most respected elementary artist in his school. Having an artist father, he learned the fundamentals of art at a very early age. His sketches and drawings were very well structured and very technically correct. Going into middle school, he signed up for as many art classes his school had to offer. High school was no different for Narek, as he received A’s in all of his beginning and second level advanced art classes. The fundamentals of art were instilled in him as he was a student at his father’s studio. At the age of 15, he was entrusted to teach his very first art lesson at Norik’s Art Studio alongside his father.

Interested in many styles and techniques, he attended the very prestigious Los Angeles Art Academy, attending figure drawing classes with the internationally known and respected Mark Westermoe and Glen Vilppu. This proved especially useful because after graduating high school, Narek attended and more importantly, taught advanced figure drawing classes at Glendale Community College as a teacher’s assistant. Narek is currently attending Santa Monica Art Institute working on a Video Game Design degree.
